First Draft Artist Series

For this project I mimicked Henri Cartier Bresson's photography style. I tried to follow the ten rules of his photography that i found: “focus on geometry, be patient, travel, stick to one lens, take photos of children, be unobtrusive, see the world like a painter, don’t crop, don’t worry about processing, and always strive for more. I would say that out of those tenants i payed the most attention to waiting for a moment, not editing, and being unobtrusive. Im pretty happy with the outcome but would like to shoot in a more densely populated place like downtown san francisco.

  1. nice work Emma. i can really tell that you are capturing different people in their every day life, and make it as if they do not notice you. i especially enjoy the picture of the women searching through her purse, because even though that is something that i see every day the way the photo was taken made it seem more interesting.

  2. Emma you did a really great job at capturing individual moments and i can definitely see Bressons influence on you. The last photo where the persons motion causes them to slightly blur reminds me of the picture you showed in your presentation, the very geometric one with the man on the bicycle going by. great work
